An Autumnal Treat | Dark Chocolate and Pecan Apples

As Autumn is fast-approaching and we start to think about our Halloween styling, MonAnnie Cakes have created an autumnal treat. Read further and try yourself to create a crisp, delicious dark chocolate wrapped apple with a pecan crunch.

Chocolate and Nut Apples

Serves: 6

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Equipment: Plastic bowl, spatula, microwave, baking tray, greaseproof paper. As well as white plastic dowels (or large skewers), a weighing scale or measuring cups.


6 red apples (Pink Lady or Royal Gala)

500g dark chocolate (or 2 cups)

100g chopped pecans (or ½ cup)


Wash and dry the apples thoroughly

Line your baking tray with greaseproof paper

Insert a plastic dowel through the centre of each apple and push it about ¾ of the way into the apple.

Place the chocolate in a microwaveable plastic bowl (make sure the chocolate fills at least half of the bowl used)

Microwave the chocolate in 30-second intervals ensuring that you stir in between until the chocolate is completely melted.

Once the chocolate is completely melted, dip each apple into the chocolate, make sure the chocolate covers about half of the apple.

Dip the apple into the chop nuts, moving it around to ensure most of the bottom half is covered

Place the apple on the prepared tray

Repeat the same process for all the apples

Once completed, place the tray in the fridge for about 15-20mins until the chocolate has set.

Its all in the presentation
