A Tropical Baby Shower at the Ivy

For all those summer lovers out there, we have the perfect style inspiration for you. A tropical baby shower where guests were surrounded by flowers, fun, flamingoes and cupcakes!

The baby shower was hosted for Liesl Lamare, an event and wedding planner in London, when she was a expecting a baby girl. The celebration for the imminent arrival of her little lady was over brunch at The Ivy Chelsea Garden. The venue’s private dining room which boasts botanical and tropical prints and a decadent gold leaf ceiling inspired the theme. Liesl also wanted to incorporate a fun flamingo to complement the tropical elements. As well as lots of pink because she was having a girl.

In the weeks running up to the baby shower, guests received a hot pink envelope through the post! It was lined with gold glitter, containing a pink, invitation to “flamingle” with them for the brunch.

The Baby Shower Design

As guests arrived at The Ivy, they walked through an impressive ombré pink wall of roses before entering the private dining room. The room was set with a long banqueting table and comfortable tub chairs upholstered in tropical prints. The table was decorated with a meadow of pink flowers and tropical foliage down the centre and elegant gold tea lights.

The Menu

Upon arrival, guests were treated to juice embellished with gold drink twirlers as well as gold and white stripey straws. One of their guests would be their friends’ 2 year old daughter, so they arranged for a beautifully illustrated flamingo storybook and toy at her place setting.

The brunch menu started with an assortment of mini pastries as well as baked honey and maple granola with yoghurt. Guests then enjoyed Egg’s Benedict or crushed avocado on dark caraway toast as a main course. All alongside English breakfast tea and coffee.

The Cake!

To finish, a beautiful vanilla bean sponge cake with buttercream, white chocolate and raspberry ganache and preserve was served. Elegant gold stripes and a 2D pink flamingo decorated the ivory icing. Finally topped with a hot pink sugarpaste flower and a gold glitter “Baby Girl” cake topper. Their cake sat atop a rose gold sequin tablecloth surrounded by large clear balloons containing fun hot pink feathers with pink tassel tails. To cut the cake, they used their Tiffany & Co cake knife and server set bought for them as an engagement gift which they had also used at their wedding.

Gold spotted tubs containing pink, strawberry flavoured popcorn favours were gifted to guests. All adorned with a flamingo “ready to pop” label.
