Street Party – The Best of British

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Queen!

In honour of Her Majesty’s 91st Birthday today we wanted to share with you a street party hosted by Absolute Taste for her 90th Birthday. A flamboyant inspiration for the summer months to come as well as all things British.

Event Manager, Lizzie Maitheison at Absolute Taste has been telling us all about what food all the guests enjoyed at the party.

“On a sunny afternoon in South West London, friends and neighbours came together to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. We wanted our street party to showcase the best of British food and style.  We served all-time favourites like sausage rolls. To add a twist we topped them all off with a pork crackling. The pork pies and scotch eggs were served with piccalilli. Finally mini fish and chips, all handmade by our chefs with local produce were served in British designed crockery and glassware.

With a nod to the swinging sixties, the table was covered in illustrative London-themed table runners and mini bottles of Pommery champagne with gold straws – this was a party, after all!”

STREET PARTY STYLING

A British street party also means celebrating retro classics.

Glistening jewel like blancmanges and jellies added playful glamour to the table and tiny tartlets with coronation chicken were given a contemporary finish with micro herbs and edible flowers.

It was a feast for the eyes, fit for a king (or Queen!).

WHAT WE LOVED

The royal guards egg cups used for ketchup dipping – and a fun little memento for guests to take home!

LITTLE TOUCHES

Although it’s a street party, this picnic still have a personalised feel – mini bottles of Pommery Champagne, and sweet favours in teacups.
