Enter the Garden of Hygge

Welcome to the Garden of Hygge. This Summer Bluebird Creative hosted a gorgeous styled shoot in a quintessentially English village.

Taking inspiration from ‘Hygge’ a Danish word meaning cosy and togetherness, and the 2017 trend of ‘Greenery’, the shoot combined fresh botanicals and herbs as well as the cleanliness of Scandinavian theming.

The Event

The luxury event planners recruited some of the finest local and upcoming talent to participate,  ensuring every detail was captured. As a result, a beautiful theme was created using the The Garden of Hygge as a cosy outdoor setting.

The Details

With a Scandinavian touch in mind the use of gorgeous golden cutlery as well as gold rim glasses ensured glamour was carried throughout the entire decor. The fluffy white fur throws draped over furniture are a favourite touch.

Additional glassware included turquoise and green vases holding a variety of nigella, sweet peas, veronica, olive and lavender foliage. All provided by Eden Blooms, encapsulating the vision to perfection!

What We Loved

Showcasing the flexibility of a Garden of Hygge theme, Bluebird created a second look. By swapping in clear perspex chairs Lauren (Founder at Bluebird) and her team displayed the various looks you can create.

Other new additions included a beautifully intricate glass charger plate alongside speckled tea light holders and calligraphy adorned menus by Judy Broad.

Calligraphy has certainly put the word back into events. If you love calligraphy as much as we do, you too can learn the tricks of the trade at the many calligraphy workshops popping up on the scene.

The Garden of Hygge Setting

The tablescape was set in the gorgeous garden area of the Hoddington Arms, surrounded by so much foliage and a beautiful tree hanging over the table itself.

From there small glass globe tea light holders were hung as well as white sweet peas. This created a beautiful chandelier effect above the table and a twinkling atmosphere after sun down.

What They Ate

A rustic styled food display was created with Jacaranda Catering, featuring gorgeous and colourful earthy salads and roasted meats.

The colours were so vibrant yet sat so beautifully amongst an abundance of herbs and rustic furniture, including a dresser and apple crates. This was featured inside an outdoor cabana with exposed brickwork and an old stove in the background, which was filled with logs to bring in the cosy vibe.

Mood lighting was created with festoons hanging from the ceiling. There was a gorgeous urn filled with beautiful green and white foliage to bring that ‘greenery’ trend into the backdrop. Bringing the outdoors in!
