The Christian Dior Exhibition launched on February 2019 at the Victoria and Albert Museum and is already sold out. Golborne Events created a client reception for a law firm at the museum. The inspiration for the event came from Christian Dior himself and his love for the garden.
A flowery exhibition
Christian Dior’s love for his garden is also so often mirrored in pieces from the fashion house and represented specifically by one of the rooms in the exhibition, with paper petals all around and a stunning collection influenced by Dior’s own garden.
Bringing Dior’s garden to The V&A Museum
Pinstripes and Peonies swathed the central gold clad bar in a “mountain of flowers” and turned the museum into Dior’s ‘second garden’. A cluster of two plinths at different heights filled with stunning flourishes of blush pink and white flowers coupled with a meadow growing from the floor. A real grass walkway, bird song and a harpist (Sternberg Clarke) completed this immersive walk through from the dome to the exhibition, giving the idea of walking through Dior’s garden.
France and flowers in the plates
We find Dior’s french taste also in the catering and drinks. Rhubarb presented canapés in jewellery boxes and cocktails with floating flowers to compliment the theme.
The pièce de résistance was the 18ft dessert station, which was adorned with all the delights you might find in a Parisian patisserie, such as pistachio macaroons, mini tarte tatins with crème fraiche and tarte au citron.
