Jimmy Garcia, hailed ‘Pop Up King’ has launched two new pop ups this summer; The BBQ Club on the Southbank and ‘Dinner on the Emirates Airline cable cars’.
Jimmy Garca, known for his creative food ideas and quirky pop ups hits the summer scene with two brand new and exciting pop ups. The first, the BBQ Club, is his largest pop up to date and sits right on the Southbank. The split level restaurant is built from shipping containers and offers a walk in BBQ experience as well as an intimate rooftop dining area with a six course tasting menu and an ‘Honesty Gin Bar’.
Launching: Officially opens on the 20th May.
Menu: Dishes will include items such as hand dived scallops with coal baked cauliflower and artisan chorizos imported directly from Jimmy’s Dad’s hometown of Asturias, Spain
Don’t forget: As the sun sets diners will be given marshmallows, chocolate and biscuits to toast over the remains of their BBQ
Prices: The walk in BBQ Grill will be serving dishes at £10 or under whilst the tasting menu is £45 per person

THE BBQ CLUB TASTING MENU
- Smokin’ Greens – BBQ Wye Valley asparagus, hay smoked Neil’s Yard goats curd, lemon and chive dressing
- The Queenie Flower – Hand-dived Dorset scallop, coal-baked cauliflower, hazelnut crumb and pickled red onion petals
- Pickin’ at Pam’s – Norfolk chicken thigh and Asturian chorizo kebab, foraged wild sorrel and roast garlic mayo
- Ba Baa Broccoli – Rare Lamb cutlet, salsa verde, charred tenderstem broccoli, Sicilian anchovies, mint, pea and broad bean salad
- BBQ Club Tropicana – Charred pineapple marinated in chilli and lime, coconut pannacotta, toasted coconut and rum syrup
- Build your own s’mores
If keeping your feet on the ground isn’t your thing then the Emirates Air Line Cable Car Pop Up will be right up your street. For one night only 17 gondolas will be transformed into four-seater dining pods.
Guests arrive at the terminal in North Greenwich for a glass of champagne and canapés and a starter. Following this guests make their way to their cable car where the main is served as they travel across the river. The 10 minute journey is being slowed down to an 18 minute crossing so that diners can take in the panoramic views of The O2, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Canary Wharf and Thames Barrier.
As guests land at Royal Victoria Dock they will be served an incredible interactive dessert; An Edible Garden complete with Oreo cheesecake, edible chocolate soil, realistic chocolate stones and meringue mushrooms.
Guests can the chose whether they’d like to stay for cocktail and petit fours whilst enjoying the popular doughnut station or catch the cable car back to where they started.

Menu: Starter; Scallops with apple gel, fresh apple, maple pancetta and sea herbs. Main; Chicken ballotine with a chicken drumette, crispy chicken skin and burnt onion purée and an Edible Garden dessert.
The Bad News: The pop up sold out in less than 24 hours. However don’t despair as we have inside knowledge that the Jimmy Garcia team are trying to secure another night so keep your eyes peeled.
Price: £75 per person to include 4 drinks (champagne, a glass of wine with dinner, desert wine and an after dinner cocktail), canapés, 3 course dinner and petit fours.
